Terms and Conditions
The terms that apply to reading, quoting and supporting Generation Liberty. Effective August 20, 2026.
Accepting these terms
These terms govern your use of Generation Liberty, published by One Generation Away, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. By using the site you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Using the site
Generation Liberty is published for readers, teachers and students to use, at no cost and without a paywall. Reading the site, linking to it, and quoting from it with attribution are all welcome and need no permission from us.
Using the site, you agree not to:
- Break any applicable law or regulation.
- Interfere with the site's security, or try to reach any part of our systems you have not been given access to.
- Scrape, copy or redistribute the site at scale outside the republishing guidelines, including for the purpose of training a machine learning model.
- Submit information you know to be false, or impersonate anyone when contacting us.
- Disrupt the site for other readers, whether by automated request volume or otherwise.
Who owns what
Articles, video, quizzes and artwork produced for Generation Liberty belong to One Generation Away and to the authors credited on them. The name Generation Liberty, the site's logo and its design belong to One Generation Away.
Photographs, illustrations and other material licensed from third parties remain the property of whoever licensed them. A license granted to us is not a license granted to you, and clearing those images separately is your responsibility if you reuse an article.
Reproducing whole articles is covered by our republishing guidelines, which set out what teachers and other publishers may do without asking. Quoting a passage with attribution and a link needs no permission at all.
Material published from other sources
Some articles on this site are published under arrangement with other publications in the One Generation Away family. Those pieces carry their original byline. The rights in them sit with their original publisher, and the republishing guidelines apply to them in the same way.
Accuracy and corrections
We aim to be accurate, and we correct mistakes promptly and visibly. The site is published for general education and general interest. It is general information and does not constitute legal, financial, medical or other professional advice, and you should not rely on it as a substitute for advice from a qualified professional. Opinion pieces are the views of the author credited on them.
If you believe something on the site is wrong, tell us through the contact page.
Newsletters
Subscribing to a newsletter means we may email you the list you asked for. Every message carries an unsubscribe link. How we handle your address is set out in our privacy policy.
Donations
One Generation Away is a 501(c)(3) organization, and donations are tax deductible to the extent the law allows. Donations made through this site are one-time gifts, charged to the card you provide at the time you give.
Gifts are voluntary and are not payment for goods or services. Nothing on this site is behind a paywall, and donating does not buy access, influence over what we publish, or any editorial consideration. If you gave in error or the amount is wrong, write to us within 30 days and we will refund it. Card payments are handled by our payment processor, and your card number is not stored on our systems.
Material we link to
Links to other sites are offered as references and citations. We do not control those sites, we do not endorse them by linking to them, and we are not responsible for their content, their accuracy or their availability.
Availability of the site
We intend to keep the site available, but we do not guarantee it. We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site, including any article or feature, at any time.
Disclaimer of warranties
The site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or non-infringement. We strive for accuracy and cannot guarantee that everything on the site is complete, current or free of error.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, One Generation Away is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue or goodwill, arising out of your use of or inability to use the site. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes to these terms
We may modify these terms. Changes take effect when they are posted here, and the effective date at the top of this page will change with them. Continuing to use the site after that constitutes acceptance of the modified terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute arising out of them will be brought in the state and federal courts of Virginia.
