President Donald Trump on Sunday issued another barrage of criticism against Fox News, lambasting the network widely seen as friendly to his administration for failing to cover his political rallies in red states as the midterm elections draw near.
California Realtor Arrested at LAX in China Espionage Probe
“A California realtor has been arrested at [Los Angeles International Airport] after being accused of spying for China. Wanying Zhang, also known as ‘Heather,’ was busted at the airport Sunday as she tried to board a flight to Shanghai,” The New York Post reports. “The 34-year-old, who lives in Irvine, Orange County, is accused of working with handlers from the People’s Republic of China to surveil the son of Taiwan’s president Ching-Te Lai,” the paper notes. “We have a problem with Beijing using Chinese-Americans for their own purposes in California,” First Assistant US Attorney for the Central District of California Bill Essayli said. “They are using them for their own foreign affairs because they are playing the long game to get a competitive advantage over us. She wasn’t spying against us, she was allegedly conducting a campaign on behalf of Beijing.”

Russia Urges Calm Amid Plague Fears After Research Lab Death
“Russia's government played down concerns Monday sparked by media reports that a female scientist in Siberia might have died of exposure to the plague after a lab accident,” CBS News reports. “Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that the state health watchdog known as Rospotrebnadzor was the ‘lead agency with expertise in this area,’ and he urged Russians to ‘listen to official information’ from its ‘highly qualified professionals,’” the network details. “The researcher who died has been identified by Russian reports as Darya Shipilova, 28, who worked at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute more than 2,500 miles east of Moscow.” Secretary of State Marco Rubio said the US is monitoring the situation. Rubio noted that there is “very limited travel between the US and Russia,” saying he did not believe it was “cause for alarm, but it is cause for focus, and a cause to just keep an eye on it, and we're doing that.”

“Christa Pike is conscious and speaking nearly a week after a botched execution left her critically injured and temporarily on a ventilator, her attorneys said Tuesday,” ABC News reports. “Her recovery is medically unprecedented. Her prognosis remains unclear but, at a minimum, we expect a long recovery,” the attorneys said in a statement. “Pike, 50, continues to receive medical care after she survived being administered two lethal doses of pentobarbital and was hospitalized following the failed Sept. 30 execution in Nashville, her attorneys said,” the network relates. “She has ‘severe damage’ to her arms and remains handcuffed to her bed, her attorneys said.”
Starbucks Sued for Alleged Heavy Sugar in ‘Sugar-Free’ Drinks
“A consumer lawsuit is accusing Starbucks of adding sugar, sometimes as much as that in a Kit Kat bar, to drinks marketed as sugar free,” NBC News reports. “The products in question include hot and iced protein lattes and protein matcha beverages in vanilla and caramel flavors. According to the federal lawsuit filed Friday, these drinks contain 13 to 21 grams of sugar per serving,” the network chronicles. “‘No reasonable person’ would expect something labeled ‘sugar-free’ to contain that much sugar, the lawsuit contends. ‘This case is about false and misleading product names. It is not about missing nutritional information,’ according to the lawsuit.”
